Common questions
Questions and answers
Is there a Mac version?
Not yet. SonusCue runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11, and a Mac version is in development.
Does the Free edition stop working after a while?
No. The Free edition has no time limit. Pro and Ultimate add features and are unlocked with a license key.
How do I enter my license key?
Open Settings (F4) → License, paste the whole key (it starts with SC1-) and click Activate. The features of your edition unlock straight away; nothing needs reinstalling.
I lost my license key.
Sign in to your account with the email address you bought SonusCue with. We email you a sign-in link, and your account shows your key. Your purchase email has it too.
How many computers can I use my license on?
Two at a time, for example your laptop and the show computer. To move the license, choose Deactivate this computer in Settings → License on the old one. If the old computer is gone, release it in your account (the link is in Settings → License).
Does the show computer need to be online?
Only once, to activate. A computer that's never online can be activated with a file instead: see offline activation. When it is online, SonusCue checks in by itself; a computer kept offline asks to check in once every 180 days.
Are upgrades included?
A Pro or Ultimate license includes free minor version upgrades (for example 1.2 to 1.3) for one year from purchase.
Can I open a Pro or Ultimate show in the Free edition?
Yes. It plays what the Free edition can: effects are skipped, surround plays in stereo and YouTube cues are listed but don't play. The show file isn't changed.
I hear clicks or crackles. What can I change?
In Settings → Engine, raise the buffer size a step at a time. If you use WASAPI exclusive or ASIO, try WASAPI shared to see whether the driver is the cause. See Troubleshooting.
What happens if the sound card is unplugged during a show?
The show keeps running silently, so cue timing, play-next and timers carry on. A red warning appears and SonusCue reconnects by itself every two seconds.
My lighting desk doesn't receive the OSC messages.
Check the destination's IP address and port in Settings → Show control and use Send test. Both computers need to be on the same network, and the desk must be set to accept OSC on that port. Common ports: ETC Eos 8000, grandMA3 8000, QLab 53000, Resolume 7000.
I forgot the console lock PIN.
